I was in the fashion industry for over 30 years, which awarded me the privilege to travel all over the world. Whenever I returned from a trip, my suitcase would team with make-up and skincare products upon my return. I’ve always searched for aid in my quest for that healthy, clean, glowing skin with the “no make-up make-up” look. However, I didn’t have the confidence to go makeup-free because I didn’t feel my skin was as healthy as it could be.

On one trip to Korea, I went to an underground shopping mall full of women whose glowing skin was jaw-dropping. Although I’m Korean-American, there was a stark difference between my skin and the skin of my community in Korea. I had to know more. How can they have such clean, pore-less, healthy-looking skin? What are they using? How can they maintain this young beautiful, natural-looking skin?

I took these questions and immersed myself in my journey to find the knowledge in my community and the skincare routines that spilled from my other homeland. I reached out to labs in Korea, learning more and more about skincare ingredients. I showered myself with the knowledge that wasn’t readily available in the US. I formulated products that elevated my skin and allowed me to get the glow I’d always wanted. I’d finally found the products, ingredients, and knowledge I sought after. All I could think next was, everyone deserves to feel confident that their skin is receiving what it needs to thrive. I knew that being away from Korea no longer meant separation from the wealth of knowledge embedded in Korean culture and beauty. I felt I had cracked the code that once seemed so daunting, it was time to share.

HollyHoux is my ode to sharing my culture, no matter where I am in the world, and the joy that comes with being able to nourish your skin. HollyHoux allowed me to intentionally create and share integrated knowledge with every beautiful human with skin.
